Overview
Ganges River Dolphins are found in freshwater rivers, in Brahmaputra, Karnaphuli-Sangu. They have a long snout, which is usually used to catch their prey in tight spaces. The reason why Ganges River Dolphins are on the endangered list is because they get caught in fishing nets, or habitat loss caused by dams.
Why They're Endangered
The Ganges River Dolphin, also known as the Susu, is on the endangered list because of the dams being built. Over 50 dams were built, which causes habitat loss towards these dolphins. Fishing nets also cause an accident death to dolphins. Ganges River Dolphins get caught in fishing nets, and try to escape, but never succeed.
Conservation
World Wildlife in India is helping Ganges River Dolphins by trying to help with pollution, irrigation canals, and degradation. You can also help by not throwing trash in the water, and spread the word about the Ganges River Dolphin, and how we are affecting their habitats.
